Yuexiu attaches great importance to education and leads the city in education. It is home to 203 kindergartens, elementary and secondary schools, 14 renowned schools with a history of more than one hundred years, and 7 demonstrative senior high schools. It leads the city in its performance of Senior High School Entrance Examination and College Entrance Examination for many consecu­tive years. It was awarded several honorary titles such as “National Characteristic Demonstration Area of Regional Education Development” , the first batch of “Leading Education District" of Guangdong Province, and the first "Pilot Zone for Comprehensive Reform in Education of Guang­dong Province".
