Guangzhou Peasant Movement Institute was initiated by Peng Pai, a member of Communist Party of China, approved by the Central Executive Committee of Kuomintang. From July 1924 to September 1926, a total of six sessions were held. The institute was in fact led and presided over by communists. The first and second sessions were held in Huizhou Guild Hall on South Yuexiu Road, and Peng Pai and Luo Yiyuan were directors; the third, fourth and fifth sessions were held in Guangdong Peasants Association on Donggao Avenue, and Ruan Xiaoxian, Tan Zhitang and Peng Pai were directors. From May to September 1926, Mao Zedong hosted the 6th session in Panyu Academy (now No. 42 Zhongshan 4th Road), serving as the director and a faculty member. During this period, Mao Zedong published the monumental articles such as National Movement and Peasant Movement and Analysis of Chinese Social Classes, clearly pointed out that "the peasant issue is the central issue of the national revolution" and put forward the proposition that the proletarian-led revolution depends on the alliance with peasants, which marked the germination of Mao Zedong Thought. Guangzhou Peasant Movement Institute was the first school in the country under the leadership of the Communist Party of China to cultivate peasant movement cadres. A total of 754 peasant movement cadres were trained, laying a solid ideological and organizational foundation for the armed revolution of workers and peasants led by the Communist Party of China.
